As I've been collecting vintage for over 15 years now, I have seen my fair share of crazy pieces. However with vintage becoming so popular these days, I had to take a step back and really think about what it is about vintage that still gets me excited.
I realized, It's all about that familiar feel and those tiny details. I'm talking about the everyday pieces things that have been worn, passed down, and worn out again, still sticking around. To me, this defines a "grail”. It's that undeniable character, those small quirks that you just don't get with something fresh off the rack. That's what makes vintage so special to me.
A close friend of mind (you guys might know him) asked me causally one day while vintage shopping together, "why don't you have your own SW exhibition?" And I thought... why don't I? My actual reply was "wow, why have I never thought of this". With thanks to that nudge from my friend, I had the confidence to present SW solo, my designs, my rules.
The process of recreating some of my favorite vintage items was not easy! Since we kicked off this project, it's been trial and error over and over again, sampling like crazy. Our goal was to take the vintage examples and remake them with luxury quality materials, by some of the best production in the world, more specifically in Japan. I encourage you to check out the originals we have on display as well, dive into the details, and play a little game of spot the difference.
The design references? They're not just from the rarest pieces I've collected from the 250k+ or so vintage pieces that have passed through my hands. These are ones with stories, which character, and some that are so perfect you could never find them in a shop. I didn't want to just copy the silhouettes, fabrics, and details; I tweaked them to be exactly what I have always wanted them to be.
Vintage is timeless. I want these pieces to be something you can wear even if your style changes down the road.
With 'SW' pieces, we've already done the heavy lifting, breaking them in from scratch. We have already passed the start line for you, now its your turn to wear them and create your own story.

ヴィンテージを集め始めてからもう15年以上が経つけど、その間に本当に色んなクレイジーなアイテムを見てきたんだ。でも、 最近ヴィンテージがどんどん人気になってきて、改めて「なんで自分はこんなにヴィンテージにワクワクし てるんだろう?」って考えてみたんだ。
そこで気づいたのは、やっぱりあの馴染みのある風合いと細かなディテールなんだよね。 使い込まれて、誰かの手に渡って、 また使い込まれて、それでもなお残っている日常的なアイテムたち。 僕にとって、これこそが“グレイル (宝物) "なんだ。 新品の洋服にはない、あの独特のキャラクターやさりげないクセ、それこそがヴィンテージの一番の魅力だと思う。
実はね、仲の良い友達が (みんな知ってるかもしれないけど)、ある日一緒にヴィンテージショッピングしてる時に「なんでショーンは自分のSW展をやらないの?」って何気なく聞いてきてさ、それで僕も「確かに、 なんでやらないんだろう?」って思ったんだ。 実際にその時は「なんで今まで考えたことなかったんだろう? って驚いたよ。 その友達の後押しのおかげで、SWとして単独でやってみようっていう自信がついたんだ。 僕のデザイン、僕のルールでね。
お気に入りのヴィンテージアイテムを再現するのは、簡単なことじゃなかったよ。このプロジェクトがスタートしてから、何度も何度も試行錯誤して、サンプルを作り続けてきたんだ。僕たちの目標は、ヴィンテージのサンプルをもとに、最高品質の素材を使って再現することだったんだ。それも、世界でも最高レベルの生産技術、特に日本の技術を使ってね。展示しているオリジナルのアイテムたちもぜひチェックしてみて、ディテールをじっくり見比べながら、まちがい探しを楽しんでほしい。
デザインのリファレンスにしたのは、僕がこれまで手にしてきた25万着以上のヴィンテージの中でも、単にレアなものじゃないんだ。それぞれにストーリーがあって、キャラクターがあって、店頭ではまず見つからないような完璧なアイテムたち。シルエットや生地、ディテールをそのまま再現するんじゃなくて、ずっと自分がこうだったら良いなって思ってた形に仕上げてるんだ。
ヴィンテージは時代を超えて愛されるもの。だからこそ、これらのアイテムは、たとえ君のスタイルが変わっても、ずっと着続けられるものにしたかったんだ。
「SW」 のアイテムは、僕たちがすでに0から1の段階を超えて、しっかり馴染ませておいたから、あとは君たちがそれを着込んで、自分のストーリーを描いていって欲しい。僕たちがスタートラインを用意したから、ここからは君の物語を作り上げてくれたら嬉しいよ。
